Chapter One

Once upon a time there was a beautiful baby girl, her name was...
Evana.
Years later, that was the one name everyone, everywhere around the world feared. For generations. Years. Centuries.

`**~`~**~`~**`

I was born, with the most beautiful eyes, they were crystal, jade green. My skin was an olive tone and I had strong, silky blond hair. I was born in a little village in France. I grew up and always skipped around town, running errands for my mother, for I lost my father when I was eleven. He was eaten by wolves as he was hunting for our Sunday dinner. He was hunting for two rabbits, then he was collecting roots, green, and berries in the meadow in the middle of the forest, he asked me to come along, to see how it’s done…

“Sweetums?” “Yes papa?” “Come with me to hunt and gather for Sunday!” Finally, I thought, I’ve always wanted to hunt and gather with him, since I was two. “Oh, papa, I’d love too!” I jumped up and hugged him, he always smells like wood and trees. I inhaled the smell, delightful. He was a tall man, my father, tall and strong. He looked young for his age, forty, he looked like he was in his late twenties. He always had a bow and arrows in his room, when I was two, I asked for a bow and some arrows, so, he made me one and cut the tips off of some smaller arrows he had in his stash. I practice but always failed. “Let’s go papa! Let’s go, go, go!” I was so eager to go. “Good-bye, Petunia!” “Have a good hunt!” My mother says, crossing her fingers with hope. My mother has the perfect name to fit her. Petunia, she gardens a lot, like, a lot, lot!
We ran up to the woods eager for the hunt to start. We entered quietly, quietly! We giggled when I stepped on a branch or twig. The I heard a scamper and pounced out of fear. “Just a bunny,” he whispered, “Nothing scary!” And he shot, I heard a squeal. I giggle, so that’s how he gets it! I picked up the arrow and on the end was a rabbit, shot right right through eye. “One more?” “One more,” and he nodded his head. We walked another half mile and he shot again, I held the arrows with the rabbits in triumph. We ran to the center of the woods to the meadow, “Parsley, ginger plant, blackberries, blueberries, cherries, strawberries, grapes, kale and some pine needles, oh and mint leaves.” He said. I counted every thing in my head over and over not to forget,  parsley, ginger plant, blackberries, blueberries, cherries, strawberries, grapes, kale, pine needles, parsley, ginger plant, blackberries, blueberries, cherries, strawberries, grapes, kale, pine needles, I thought over and over until we had everything.
After gathering I recommended my father to allow me to pull and grab some roots to throw in the stew, he said, “What the point not to!” I grabbed a sack full and we lyed on the ground and feasted on berries and roots, then eating some mint leaves. We shot two extra rabbits also.
We picked some more berries, mint leaves and roots to replace the ones we ate and headed home, that's when it happened...

We stood at the edge of the meadow and we heard a growl, I screeched. My father pushed me behind him and I was eager to hide. He readied his arrow, about to fire. He stepped forward and I pulled him back, "Papa, no! It might be a wolf, don't move let's run in the other direction!" "It's fine, it might be Tuesday's dinner!" No, I thought, don't move! Three wolves pounced out and cornered us against a big tree, with a huge trunk. He shot, right through the eye of the leader of the pack,-eight more followed the first three- heading right towards us. He tiered two more arrows nothing happened. I grabbed an arrow with a rabbit on it and I threw it into the center of the pack, and pulled my father away, and ran for our lives.
"Good job back there!" And he smiled at me. "Just keep running, don't look back unless you want to die! Just run!" I started to speed up. We hit the other end of the meadow and climbed a tree a few feet into the woods. We waited for a few hours, and it grew dark. My mother must be worried sick, I thought. We ate some berries, roots and some mint leaves, to have as a substitute dinner. "Wait until tomorrow," he said, calmly, braiding my hair. I cried a little and he let me snuggle up into his arms.
"Oh, Evana!" He said calmly. "Look at the sky, it so beautiful, just like your canvas paintings." I really love to paint, it's my talent. "And the birds are singing you a lullaby, we're okay up here in this tree, we had a healthy and tasty dinner too. Tomorrow we'll wake up and walk home. Those wolves should be gone by then." When he finished, I fell asleep right away, as if on que.
I woke, slightly, and the birds were silent, the sky was morbid and grey, and, I fell asleep on my father stomach and, oh no! Why isn't he breathing. "Papa!" I screamed in panic. "What?" He asked calmly, phew, he's okay! "Let's go, Mama, Mama, must be worried, worried sick!" I was actually scared. We climbed down the tree and headed home. We didn’t get very far until we heard another sound. The leaves beside us ruffled and shook and my father readied another arrow and pointed to the source of the sound. The leaves kept shaking and I heard a growl. “Wolves,” I whispered. I saw yellow eyes poke through the bush, they just glared, trying to sense my fear. I refused to show any. But, I was as still and stiff as anything.
“Run! Run! Run!” I scream, tugging on my father’s shirt. I started to run but stopped, he didn’t move, the wolf pounced out but didn’t attack, unless he already did, silently. He collapsed and his eyes were just the whites and they were red with pain. What? “Papa!” I screamed and ran by his side falling on my knees and crying into his chest. I clenched his shirt and looked up at the wolf and stared into it’s eyes. Burning into it’s eyes. “What did you lose?” I asked, with sympathy, like it didn’t just kill my father. “Nothing, my life was cursed, that’s all.” What the heck? Did that wolf just talk to me? Who cares, just keep talking to it, it might help you. “How, what do you mean?” Just keep talking, you need someone to talk to. “The Wicked Witch cursed me, turned me into a wolf, now it’s just in my nature to kill. I need someone to love me, I need a friend.” He looked like he was crying, yet I couldn’t tell.”He could have been your friend, now he’s just a dead blog, lying here, he had a life, he had a heart, a family, a daughter!” I said, with a pained, angered voice. “Sorry,” he looked at his paws, “Tell his daughter, it was my fault, tell her I’m so sorry.” “Apology not valid, when a death comes. I am his daughter.” My father was still clenching his bow and arrow, but his grip loosened. I ripped it out of his hand and grabbed the other arrows. I threw them over my back and grabbed the three rabbits, roots, greens, and fruit and headed home crying.
My mother was sitting on the porch of the cottage and was crying as she knelt to my level and hugged me and smiled and cried some more, with the smile, “Where is your father?” She asked scared. I told her the entire story. We wept, and sobbed and mourned together, I skipped school for a few months doing house work and helping my depressed mother, she went mental, three weeks after his death.

After that, I sustained my mother and myself for years after.

Chapter Two

So as I started off, I skipped around town and ran errands for my half-dead mother. One day, it happened….

“Mama, what would you like to do, on this lovely of all days?” She was still mental, but she was getting better, I was now fifteen years old. “I would love to plant some orchids!” And she headed for the door. “Mama, remember the disease going around? I can’t have you going outside. You’ll catch it and, and I don’t want to be alone in this world!” “What do you mean? Your father is out hunting, he was just here an hour ago. Oh, why are you worrying about me, you’re only ten, your birthday was yesterday, you went hunting with him and shouldn’t you be in school?” This is so sad, I am alone in this world. She is lost in her own fantasy world. I cried for a bit. Do you blame me?
She threw her scarf around her neck and grabbed the orchid seeds from the seed pot and opened the door. I stopped crying and looked up. No! She stepped out and breathed deep, inhaling the diseased air. She kneeled down and started to plant. “Get up! And come in here!” I scolded. “No!” She said back. I held my breath and walked over to her and tried to pick her up. Too heavy. She collapsed, no! She died in my arms. I ran inside and slammed the door shut. Why me? I cried into my hands. What will I do now?

That night she died, was the night my heart turned to ice. The pain tore at my chest and made my soul throb. I became, Maleficent. I ran out of the village for a few nights. I came across; Old Whither’s Healing and Simple Spells, Potions, Voodoo, Future Telling and About Anything You Desire. Weird! I  entered, not afraid of anything.
“Hello child!” Came a raspy, hoarse, yet kind voice from somewhere in the room. “I am seeking Old Whither! Where is she! I need to talk to her! Immediately!” I said, fiercely. “Well, you’ve came to the right place, child. For I am Old Whither.” She paused. “I see greatness in your future, you just need to seek the right path and choose the right choice.” An old, short woman walk out from behind a huge cauldron and smiles, she has a long crooked nose, long thin arms and fingers, and she looked nice and very wise. “Miss Whither? Is that your name?” Maleficent is disappearing, be evil and mean, be evil and mean, I thought.
“Yes and no,” she had an English accent, “My public name is Miss Whither, but my personal name is Marian!” She pauses and then says, “I only share that name with friends and family and people I trust, people I know will do great things.” Suse, it’s all a trap, she’s trying to make me, little miss nice-Maleficent. “Well, Marian, I need some, some stuff.” I said, meanly and I flicked one of her cauldrons, destructively. “What do you desire child, I will provide you with everything.” I smiled, cruelly, and say, “I would like some, wait, anything?” “Yes child!” “Then I would like, three love potions, in large vieles, please, I mean, now!” She smiles and shakes her head and toddles over to a large cauldrons and she pours leaves and herbs in it and it smokes up and the liquid inside turns pink. She scoops up the liquid into the smallest vieles I’ve ever seen. “Those are too small!” I said, sternly. “They are a lot bigger child, it’s a charm, it’s a lot bigger inside, so you don’t have to lug around giant vieles.” She filled three and handed them to me.
“Voodoo magic books,” She pulls a book down from her shelf, it’s old, big and dusty, she blows on it, dust flying everywhere. “Horreat brevius quam Evana admotas, cum rursus ex et boost in saccello suo, ac in lucem et breviare recuso quo.” She chanted and the book shrunk and became light. “Here dear,” Then the book became heavy and big when it touched my hands. I threw it into my bag and hours later-I asked for many things- I headed home.
I snuck into my cottage and slept, with much joy.
When I woke up in the morning I ran outside and bought a Daily Newspaper, and read….

The Daily Howler

Prince Cameron Charellean the 111, is coming to our village and he is putting together a royal ball, in honor of our poverty and the great drought.
He is also seeking someone as his partner in law.
The Royal Ball will be held tonight in the village commons in the garden at seven o’clock.

I threw aside the rest of the paper and hung up the article and ran to my bath and cleaned myself. After that I ran through my bag full of the magic articles of paper to liquid and I threw the irresist powder in me and a beautiful dark green dress, embroidered with green jade crystals. I looked beautiful. I sat and waited, when the clock struck six- fortyfive and I started off to the commons. I made sure I had a love potion viele and some emergency irresist powder. I made it to the commons at six fifty nine and I waited at the floral gardens. I sat on a bench and acted lonely and sad. The trumpets sounded and I stood, the prince was here. The carriage pulled in and the prince steppe of the platform and he smiled, his most delightful of smiles.

I sat and acting, waiting for the right moment. After everybody bowed and introduced themselves, he was free to explore. He looked for something to do. Then, he caught my eyes and I looked away fast, he was actually handsome, too bad the plan I have is sinister and cruel. He approached me and sat, with perfect posture. The powder is working. “Hello, good evening, isn’t it?” “Oh yes, a mighty nice night, my name is Evana Maleficent!” I bowed, I made up my last name, and replaced it with my new name. “Beautiful stars, just like you.” And he smiled a real smile. We stared and stared some more. “Drinks?” I said pointing at the table with the drinks. “Sure, Evana!” “I’ll get them,” I said and I stood and headed for the drink table.

I poured two drinks and then I pulled out the Love Potion, and I poured it into his and swung around and handed him his. “Mmm, this is mighty good!” “Yes it is!” I replied and smiled. We talked about our trips we took within our lives. His eyes grew drowsy. And I knew the potion kicked in. He threw himself to his knees and said, “Will you marry me?” “Yes!” I yelled. “The party is over!” He screamed. “I am marrying this woman! Our marriage is tomorrow. Close the gates and ready the horses!” I smiled, my plan is working perfectly.

“Well, that was so sudden, don’t you think?” I asked. “No,” he replied, “I love you, I’ve known you my entire life!” Working perfectly. “May we stop by my cottage so I can grab my stuff and say good bye to the old place.” “Whatever you desire my dear!” And he kissed my hand. And, we jumped into the carriage.

We stopped in front of my cottage, and I jumped out, “Cameron, stay here, I won’t take too long.” “No, problem.” I unlocked my door and screamed with joy, I’m almost there! I ran up to my room. I collected my spells, potions, etcetera. Who needs clothes when you’re going to live in a palace of royalty and riches?

I came back down to the carriage and we headed to the castle, three kingdoms over. The views were beautiful on our way. Setting sun over deserts and mountains the sky painted colors of beauty. Aw, I thought, I’m being little miss nice Evana! Uh, I thought, ugly view!

I fell asleep on Cameron’s shoulders and woke up because of his soft, kind voice. “Excuse me,” He started, “I don’t know you, but you need to exit the carriage before to guards find you and do something horrible to you.” The potion wore off! I opened my bag and pulled out the Love Potion. I looked him in the eyes and said, “But, sir, I have nowhere to go!” “You must go!” “Wait, would you like a drink?” Without answer I shoved the viele into his mouth and he drank it and freaked out. “What the heck was that?!? What was in that, is it poison?!? I’m calling the guar-! Wow, is it me or are you beautiful?” I smiled. I guard heard his yelling and opened the carriage door and asked, “Your highnesses, I heard a scream, is everything alright?” “It’s okay, Harold!” He gruffled and walk away, slamming the door.

We entered the castle, but I have too much to tell, so I will not describe it to you.

“Dear, our wedding is tomorrow, so be well rested for the ball tonight, before the wedding,” I nodded. We hugged and then I went to my chambers. I hid my bag in the closet in my room and I slammed the door. Three maid-like women escorted me to be cleaned and then five women, dressed the same as the other women, dressed me in the loveliest dress I’ve ever seen. They slipped it off me and gave me a silk robe to take a nap in and they handed me the dress to put on when I wake up.

I walked to my chambers and slept, but I woke up early to work on my plan. I stood there thinking, I’ll have the wedding tonight!

I ran down without putting on my dress before the party starts. I run to his door and knock, “Cameron, I need to talk with you.” He opens the door, pale as anything. He looks like he just threw up, “Who are you, are you the royal trades master? People kept knocking on my door and saying there was a party, for me and my girlfriend and we’re engaged?!?!” I smile and shove the viele down into his mouth and he screams again, “What the heck was that? You, you poisoned me!” He collapses and I put the viele in my pocket, and I let out a yelp of pain, “Oh no! Cameron!! Someone help!!” He needs to be revived by tonight the party needs to be perfect to make sure my plan works perfectly!

Two maids dusting in the near hallway heard my scream and they rushed to my side, “Dear, are you okay? We will get your prince fixed up soon, by tonight!!” I actually was scared if they found magic in his body. Before the maids could get help, Cameron coughed and sat up, “Mellie! You’re okay, phew, how did I pass out!?” He laughed. He calls me Mellie now because my, so-called last name is Maleficent. I hug him relieved the plan will go perfectly. “Can we have our wedding tonight?!” I say relieved and out of breath. “Whatever you want Evana.”

We plan the wedding for that night, and I need to admit, it was really fun! We had the reception, “You may kiss the bride,” is the only part I cared about when the wedding came, that meant I was officially the queen of the Charllean kingdom. I screamed with joy and we kissed, it’s official!! That night we sat on the balcony of the tallest tower, right on the edge.

The sky gleamed with beautiful light and the moon shone bright, I smiled, he hugged me and held me tight. “From now on I will never let you go!” He said with deep feeling. “I know,” I said, pure evil in my voice. All we did was sit and drink sparkling cider. “You’re only fifteen, wow!” He said. I was. We did nothing after that until, I broke the silence. Now talking, and sounding pure evil, “Cameron, you know how you said you’d never let me go?” “Yes?” He said, hesitating. “Let go of me!” I barked. “What’s wrong?” He asked. “Oh, nothing, just-” I ran my fingers across the flawlessly cut balcony wood, I looked behind me to make sure no one was there, “I’m just saying, I’m going to let you go!” I screamed and I pushed him off the tower. He screamed. “Oh no!” I fake screamed, “My dear husband, is falling off the tower!” People went down to the bottom of the castle, but he fell into the moat and alligator, chewed away ferociously.

I was now the ruler of my own kingdom, but the unfortunate part was that I had to attend my late-husband funeral and then…

Huge, thick, pitch black horns grew from my head and I had to cover them with my hoods and it was a real pain.
I soon started to feel depressed for no reason. The kingdom went into debt and we went broke. No gold, silver or bronze nothing with a cost or value, I raised taxes and the citizens grew angry and I escaped the kingdom that night, and everything crumbled.

Chapter Three

Soon after that, my olive skin turned paler and paler everyday. I was hiding in the mountains, thinking on what I should do. One day my skin was pure white and I felt severe pain in my head, the horns were grown bigger. My eyes were not jade green anymore, they turned white, then grew reddish orange, and they grew redder by the day. My blonde hair started growing light to dark brown from the roots and into black.

I thought and thought, ah ha! Do the same  but at another kingdom. So, I ran around towns seeing if they’re having a royal ball. I came across a cute, pathetic little town. It was called Bightarryan, real cute, real cute.

They welcomed me in, they thought I looked sick and they took me in. They rushed me to the local healer, Old Whiter? She was the healer? “Hanc mali mutare si facere non possunt, conantur ostendere suam fecerit iniquitatem suam. Debet mutare, quia si non, luctus hie mundus monstra atra nube coopertum.” She yelled over the raging storm that started outside. This stupid old lady and her magic. Then I blacked out, I dreamed of everything that I’ve done bad, my new husband, the potions, the evil magic, I fell into a deep sleep.

I snapped awake, Marian’s grey eyes right in mine, and we bash heads. I groan and hold my forehead. “Leave me alone hag, you made me see the thing, I’ve done wrong, I’m happy evil, don’t ruin it!” I scream. “You, deserve it! You need to open your cold, evil eyes, and see!” I scream and she falls down dead, I killed her. The black, thick mist shot from my hands, killed her.
